26 Great Nail Art Ideas - French with a twist

It's been a while since I did a mani for the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge. But after seeing the other participants post their manis last Friday, I was inspired to paint my nails.  I haven't done a French design in absolutely ages, so the prompt of French with a twist actually really piqued my interest. Which is funny, cause I usually consider French manicures to be generally pretty boring.

I did a chrome base over a nude shade, and then top coated that with a water based top coat. I then masked off a rough french tip using liquid latex and quickly painted on the rainbow stripes. To finish it off I tried to do a thin black french tip line. It didn't end up looking so thin here in these photos, but in real life it looks pretty good.

Digital Dozen does stamping - Day 5

Day five coincides with St Patrick's Day, so it made sense to do some St Patrick's Day themed nails, especially knowing I had a good stamping plate with shamrocks etc on it.

I did cheat and do a tiny bit of freehand with the rainbow, but can I just admire how neatly my stamping came out for the four leaf clover on my index finger.  I did double stamping on the two middle fingers, and I should have done it the other way around, with the darker shade underneath and the lighter green on top, that way it would have looked more like a shadow, rather than the messy misprint that it looks like now.

Dreamland lacquer Kiss me, I'm a fish is not only the perfect green for this mani, but the name is just perfect for St Patrick's day too, being an autocorrect play on the saying Kiss me, I'm Irish.

That will do for today, and for the end of another Digital Dozen week.

Digital Dozen does stamping - Day 4

It's Day four for the Digital Dozen stamping week and I just went through and edited my photos for the last two posts. After editing the photos I uploaded here into Blogger and saved them without any text, just with the photos saved.  Now looking through my draft posts I have 15 of them! 15!. So it turns out I love doing fun nail art, and taking the pictures. I apparently even don't mind editing the photos and uploading them. What I can't be bothered doing it writing them up as blog posts. Do you think it matters, maybe I can just post the photos and say nothing and that would be ok?

Onto this mani. I started with a base of my favourite ever gold polish, Lacquistry Amazeballz extra fine. For some reason I wanted to make it look a little chromier, so I rubbed in some unicorn powder from the Born Pretty Store.  To the ordinary eye you couldn't really tell, but it did give it a smoother finish, and a very slight duochrome red to green shimmer over the top.

On top of the base I did some stamping decals. After the previous white stamping on Tuesday, I decided to do some more white stamping (with just a dash of colour). I think the image is sunflowers, but in white they looked like daisies.

Digital Dozen does Stamping - Day 3

Welcome to day three of this stamping extravaganza. Let's see if I did something different today. Hmmmm look at that, a gradient with stamping on top. Sorry, turns out I'm not feeling too original this week.

This is a water marble stamping image off a plate labelled L005, which I think I got from the Born Pretty Store.  I pulled out my Grace-ful fruit salad collection for the gradient, cause they just make the perfect gradient. I actually wish I just wore the gradient for this, rather than the stamping on the top, I feel like this stamping image is too solid and doesn't show the colours behind it well enough, it looks too black.

Digital Dozen does Stamping - Day 2

Don't you just love it when you do a thing and it turns out way better than you were expecting.  So yeah, I did a thing and I'm so happy with how it turned out.  Firstly the gradient with Picture Polish mad magenta and citrus was just so bright and delicious, and then I did this plain black and white stamping and it just pops like no body's business.

All the flower images are off Konad Square Image plate 31 which I got from DRK nails. It's a layered plate, so to get images like these you either need to make stamping decals or use a clear stamper and double stamp. In this instance I did double stamping with a clear stamper.

Digital Dozen does Stamping - Day 1

Hello out there. Can you believe it's another Digital Dozen week already.  I've gotta say that I think if it weren't for the Digital Dozen weeks each month to keep me motivated, then this blog just might fall to the wayside and die.  Don't get me wrong, I still love painting my nails, and still do nail art on them at least once or twice a week, but seriously, who out there really cares whether I'm posting here or not?

My first mani uses some polishes I bought with my Birthday gift voucher from Femme Fatale that my local nail buddies got me.  I got the Dreamland lacquer set of neon scattered holos from the Autocorrect collection.  I've not yet worn them each as single colours or even swatched them, but I have painted them onto my swatch sticks and I can say that they have a wonderful jelly appearance to show through lots of scattered holo.  I remember going back years and years ago chatting with Noelie from Dreamland lacquer (Smitten back them) about where on earth to find these scattered holo particles.  I'm so glad they are easy to come by now days, and to see these amazing colours from Noelie.

I must point out that because I created a gradient with the shades, over a white base, that the colours look very pastel here. In reality, each colour on it's own is very vibrant.

The little deer stamping was off BP35 and the leaves off something else.I took a leaf out of @Clairestelle8 book and added the double stamping. I always love how her stamping has so much depth because of it, but I'm not sure I quite achieved that.
