Picture Polish - Magic

Being the gold polish lover that I am, how have I not posted about this new shade from Picture Polish yet? First, this is how I wore Magic, with some dots and some swirls.

I used some swirl vinyls from Loki's Nail Vinyls.  This was the first time using Loki's nail vinyls and they are of lovely quality. Another product that I tried for the first time was the nail aprons.  I didn't use them for this mani, so I will save that information for a mani that I actually used them for.

Here are swatches of Magic on it's own, created by Hungarian blogger LakkomLakkom.  This is a beautiful soft rose gold shade with a scattered holo finish. I just love this, and is it completely different to the other gold Picture Polish shades like Majesty and Pharaoh.

Polish provided for consideration.

#ITrustIndies - Emily de Molly

So this is the week that the nail polish community went mental, so to speak!  While that individual brand appears to be an ass, I'm showing my support to indie brands, in particular to my Australian indie brands, but using the hash tag #ITrustIndies.

The indie I've chosen to show you is easily in my top ten, infact it's in my top three indie brands.  Emily de Molly.  I recently showed you the latest polishes from Emily de Molly, and two of them caught my eye to be worn together, Great and Small and Sleep Walking.

I started with a base of Great and Small, which is the lighter shade, then I applied some long triangle nail vinyls, also from Emily de Molly.  Over the vinyls I applied one coat of Sleep Walking and then pulled the vinyl off immediately.

After I wore it like that for a while, the next day I decided to add some platinum gold striping tape. It added some extra bling, but then I thought it looked like I had to apply the tape to cover up for messy lines, which I actually didn't have, because the vinyls created perfectly smooth lines.

I love these two colours together and the holo flame is strong in both. Both these shades are available now on the Emily de Molly website. Stockists and the US warehouse will have these shades soon.

And now for some link love to lots of others that #ITrustIndies

Picture Polish Calm

Moving right along with my last few manis before the 31 Day Challenge starts.  Today's mani features Picture Polish Calm and a design that I saw first done by @loveslacquer.

This design is created using two techniques.  First you stamp the checker board pattern, then you create the decal flowers and apply them over the top.   Calm is a tad sheer to be able to use on it's own as a decal, so for the blue flower, I put a white backing on it so the checkers didn't show through the flower.

Here is Calm on it's own. Calm was created with Russian blogger Rafi Nails, who, like many other Russian bloggers uses some voodoo witchcraft to take amazing nail photos!

This is tree coats as it is a little sheer, but that just means the holo particles get a chance to really shine through, plus there is also a good generous amount of scatter holo in this.  Colour wise, this is somewhere between Lagoon and Ocean in the teal blue green range.  I've done a bottle comparison below.

Picture Polish - Allure

So it's just dawned on me that the 31 Day Challenge starts in less than a week and I have a whole bunch of unposted mani's to get through. I'm really going to have to lift my posting schedule to get through them all.  For anyone participating in the 31 Day Challenge, like last year I have created in-linkz for every day. If you are a blogger, please remember to grab them for your blog so everyone can share our awesome manis.

I liked the micro dot stamping so much on my last mani that I used it again. This time I teamed it up with other images from the same plate.  So to the lovely ladies who asked which plate it was that I used last time, I actually just went through my pile of plates to find out which one it was.  It's Moyou Pro Collection 10 plate.  It has these micro dots as well as other pop art images- like the Pow and Bang ones.

The polish I featuring here is Picture Polish Allure, a new collaboration shade with Nina_D83 on instragram.  If you aren't already a follower, you should be. She posts incredible nail art and is known by her trademark 'scarf hand pose'.  The other thing that is pretty amazing with her account is that if you look back to her first posts, they were just a flawless as her current ones.  She doesn't have any questionable beginner photos like the rest of us!

Allure is a bright magenta pink jelly with scattered holo.  It's along the same lines as Picture Polish Mad Magenta, which is the creme sister to this polish.  For this mani I stamped with Mundo de Unas gold and used Zoya Kerry on my ring finger and stamped with Mundo de Unas is some magenta colour that I don't know if it has a name or just a number.

Here are my swatches of Allure on it's own.  It has a great formula and lasted well on my nails.  I used two coats and Seche Vite top coat for my swatches.  I did find that adding top coat made the colour appear slightly darker compared to how it looked straight out of the bottle.

Picture Polish Bardot

Another weekend gone just like that! Another Monday just around the corner. Another 31 Day challenge sneaking up on me. I'm really going to have to get myself organised if I'm hoping to post every day again for a whole month.

Today's polish is Bardot, a new pale pink crelly shade from Picture Polish.  First up, here is the mani of how I wore Bardot.  Stamping is using Mundo de Unas Gold and a tulip charm.  I really love these little dots stamping.  I thought they were going to be too small and fine to show up, but they actually show up beautifully.  Also loving that I actually had a tulip stamping image to go with the charm.

Here are swatches of Bardot on it's own.  This is more of a crelly shade.  I'm not going to say it's a fully creme because you can still see the holo particles in this, but it certainly is more creamy that most of the Picture Polish scattered holo polishes.  This is a very neutral pink tone, rather fleshy. It is quite different from Grace, which is also a pale pink scattered holo.  This doesn't have as much holo in it compared to Grace, and Grace leans more lilac.

Emily de Molly - August 2015 New Releases

Emily de Molly has been very been the last few months. Exactly one month ago she released six new shades, and today I have swatches of six new shades that will be available tomorrow.

The six polishes have a nice range of finishes, with several holos, and glitter and a gorgeous shimmers.  Lets get straight into it.

Ambitious flower - a red based purple holo. This is two coats without top coat. Other swatches of this show an amazing holo flame, but it just didn't want to come out for my photos.

Copper patina - a dusty turquoise base with a strong copper/pink shimmer.  This sort of finish is what I love about indie brand Contrary Polish, so if you like her shades then you will love this. It''s the mix of contrasting base and shimmers that has me swooning. This is two coats with no top coat.

Cracks in the walls - a tricky shade to describe. I'm going to call is greige.  Its a very pale taupe base that at first you think is silver, but it doesn't have the same starkness to it, instead it has more fleshy tones to make it fit into the 'nude holo' category.  It also has a strong linear holo finish with larger holo giltters for extra sparkle.

Fruitcake in August? - a black jelly base with a fruity mix of glitters in a whole range of colours and sizes.  Suits the name perfectly. As with other Emily de Molly polishes that have a jelly base and glitters, the jelly base has the perfect opacity to achieve full coverage in two coats, yet is sheer enough to let the glitters show plenty of depth. This is two coats with two coats of top coat for a glassy finish.

Great and Small - This one is the next COTM, which isn't colour of the month, it stands for Charity of the Month polish.  With a name like great and small, it's no wonder that the charity is ACT Animal Rescue, a local charity for me that close to my heart, given that our household has had no less than 20 rescue cats over the last 20 or so years. But it breaks my heart when I visit their facebook page and I see all the babies that I can't take in.

The polish has a soft cornflower blue base with a pink shimmer and strong linear holo. This is two coats with no top coat.

Sleep Walking - a dark blue base with a green shimmer and linear holo finish. This is two coats with no top coat.  A gorgeous inky blue that has an interesting contrasting shimmer as well as a holo finish.

These six new shades launch tomorrow morning Australian time - Saturday 22 August on the Emily de Molly website. Stockists and the US warehouse will be receiving them soon after.

Polishes provided for consideration.
