Sweet Color flakie

When I was browsing the born pretty website, I spied a whole range of of flakie polishes and this one in particular caught my attention.  This is Sweet Color Shell Glitter (flakie) #4.  The flakes shift red through orange to yellow and green.

Flakies always look their best over a dark colour, so I first tried this over black.  This is two coats of Sweet Color Flakie #4.  The colour shift in the flakes is really obvious and the polish is also really packed full of the flakies too.  Application was easy but the polish is a little smelly, so I'm guessing this isn't 3 free.

I also layered it over red, and the effect was fantastic.  This is two coats over Kester Black Poppy.

There are eleven flakie polishes in the collection and they are currently $7.99 a bottle on the Born Pretty Store website. The colours in #1 look really pretty too. If you shop, don't forget to use someone's 10% off code.

Girly Bits - A few new shades

I'm currently off preparing my first mani for the 31 Day Challenge. I've created an in-linkz for every day of the challenge, so if you are a blogger who is also participating, who would like to include an in-linkz on your blog posts, and like to be as obsessively organised as me - then you will find all codes on my 31 Day Challenge In-linkz codes page.

Now for today, I have three absolutely stunning polishes from Girly Bits.

Blue Eyed Beer Drinkin Music Lovin Lawyer - A Special Edition polish created in collaboration with Julie from Wishes of a Blue-Eyed Girl for her One Year Blogaversary! It's a deep royal blue jelly base with small blue hex glitters.  The base colour for this is so pigmented and rich. Looking at the bottle I thought I might need a lot of coats, but I barely needed two. I thought I might end up a bit stained or definitely with smurf hands, but I was presently surprised after removing this that staining wasn't an issue. This is two coats with Seche Vite top coat and as you can see it's smooth and glossy perfectness.  This polish is divine!

What Happens In Vegas...Ends Up On Facebook - a dusty eggplant shimmer with holo qualities and blue/purple colour shifting iridescent micro glitters, pink micro glitters and red micro shimmer. Sadly this one was a Limited Edition shade made for bloggers who visited the 2013 Cosmoprof in the USA and is now sold out. But we all still love looking at gorgeous polishes anyway.  I dream one day of going to Cosmoprof in the USA, I just need to coordinate the timing with a family holiday!  When that happens, I'm going to be able to meet up with all the epic bloggers that attend!

Sofa King Messy - This polish was created because of a damaged shipment of glitter than Pam received, which I'm guessing ended up as a big mess over her sofa!  But she was able to salvage some glitter, add a few extra ingredients and create this stunning glitter top coat.  I did just one easy coat over aEngland St George and one layer of Seche Vite top coat. I love the overall aqua green tone to this polish whilst is still has a mix of lots of colours.  I'm sure you can build this to opacity on it's own with two to three coats as well.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but some of these bottles are Pam's new printed bottles.  They don't even have clear label, the printing is on the bottle. Nice!

Girly Bits polishes are available from the Girly Bits store, she also stocks glitter and franken supplies on her site too.  Girly Bits are also available from a range of distributors around the world.

Polishes provided for review.

Dance Legend - solar colour changing milky glitters

Here are a couple of fun polishes from Russian brand Dance Legend.  They all have a pastel milky base with glitter suspended in them. And they all change colour dramatically when exposed to sunlight.  I can't find names on these, only numbers.

193 - This one is a pale pastel pink with bright fuchsia pink hex glitters in two sizes.   This is two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

Step out into the sun and the pastel pink base turns into a bright neon purple.

194 - This one contains a multicolour glitter mix in very light pink tinted base.  There is red, hot pink, gold and blue glitters in three different sizes. This is two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

In the sun, this one bursts in to bright hot pink.

195 - This one contains three sizes of light gold hex glitter in a peachy coloured slightly off white milky base. This is two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

In the sun, this one shifts to bright purple.

Application is pretty good with all of these, but like with most milky glitters, you will want to let each layer dry properly before starting the next layer. Otherwise you might drag the glitters down through the milky base making it streaky.

I see these polishes as perfect for office workers where work appropriate nail polish is required.  All the "inside" shades are pale and subtle, with just a flash of sparkle peeking out from the milky bases. Then you step out for lunch and POW - your nails come to life.

The colour changing effect on these is very fast. The change between shades within about 2 seconds of either exposure to sunlight or removing that light source. There isn't really an in between shade.

There is now a number of places that you can buy Dance Legend polishes, here is the list from the Dance Legend website - although I don't know if these shades are available at all outlets.

Emily de Molly - A few more holos

I've had these polishes since I last caught up with "the Girls" last month. These are three of Hayley's newer holos, and I wore them straight away, but am only just getting around to posting about them now.

Living after midnight - This one is described as a dark red holo, which is pretty accurate, it's like a Shiraz wine with rainbows.  A fantastic rich colour but the holo flame still shines through easily.  It's a similar shade to Dance Legend Optical Illusion. Two coat son it's own.

Moment of impact - a dark purple holographic. It's a slightly dusty purple and again the holo effect is good for a dark holo polish.  This was two coats on it's own.

On Edge - this is an interesting shade, it's a khaki green holo. A totally unique green holo in my collection.
The formula on all these was lovely and they were easy to apply.

Emily de Molly polishes are available from the Etsy store, or for international orders through: http://shop.llarowe.com, http://meimeisignatures.com, http://www.norwaynails.com and http://www.sallymagpies.co.uk.

And in other news, I've decided to follow Sarah from Chalkboard Nails lead and do the 31 Day Challenge during the month of September.  I've not attempted the 31 Day Challenge before, but doing a post every day is something I know I can keep doing and I'm really looking forward to it.  I will probably end up posting a couple of times a day so I can still post swatches and reviews as well as the 31DC posts.

I'm thinking of creating an in-links for each day of the challenge, considering how many people said they would do the challenge on Sarah's Blog, that way we can all share our posts.  Instagram ladies can also join in using the hashtag #31DC2013. Do you think you will try it too?

Penelope Luz - Dark Angel, It's Summer, Pandora and Yin Yang

Hello indie polish lovers, I've got more polishes for you today from Brazilian brand, Penelope Luz.  First up, if you are looking for a new blog to follow with stunning photos in perfectly beautiful poses, then you need to check out Penelope's blog.  She must have a pretty fancy camera setup, or photographer help her out in doing nail shoots, because there is no way I could swing taking photos that include both hands.  I love some of her hand poses - I'm gonna have to get my mum to do a hand photo shoot with me so I can try some fancy poses out!

Anyway, lets look at these four polishes.

Dark Angel - a mix of matte black glitters in different shapes and sizes in a clear base. There is long bar glitters, but if you don't like them then they are easily pulled out. Application was easy, and this is one coat over Kester Black Tutti Fruitti.

It's Summer! - a clear base with neon yellow fine matte glitter and orange and purple matte hexes. I don't think I chose my base shade very well and I should have layered it over something darker to allow the yellow glitters to pop more.  This is one coat over Kester Black Buttercream.

Pandora - a red wine jelly base full of burgundy glitter.  The glitter and tinted jelly base means this one can be built to opacity on it's own.  This is two coats and it's was perfectly opaque.  Even though it's packed with glitter it's not thick or difficult to apply, but it does dry a little gritty, so you can either rock the textured look or apply a few coats of top coat.

Yin Yang - a transparent base with a mix of black and white matte glitters in various shapes and sizes.  Certainly not a unique polish, but it is done quite nicely.  This is one layer of Yin Yang over Kester Black Forget Me Not.  If you like black and white glitter polishes and feel the need to own them all (I'm looking at you Fingers) - then this one is a nice mix.

You can see all of the Penelope Luz range on her nail polish site - as apposed to her blog.

I got my Penelope Luz polishes from Color4Nails, who also stocks a good range of indie and hard to get international brands.

Polishes provided for review.
