Ozotic Mr Big - Black, White and High Gloss Top Coat

Remember last Friday when I did my Canberra Cavalry baseball nails?  Well I have to quickly mention that the guys did it - they won the whole bloody thing!  It was pretty freaking exciting. Mr More Nail Polish hit a solo home run to put the team in front to win. They interviewed him on FoxSports after the game, they showed the last out on Channel 7 Sunrise this morning and there were a few stories in the papers about it too.  Here is an article about Mr More Nail Polish, and a couple about the team's win here and here (linked mainly for my posterity).

Ok, I know you not here for the baseball, but for the nails, so today I have a review of the Ozotic Mr Big polishes.

There are three polishes in the Mr Big range. Black, White and High Gloss Top Coat.  The bottles contain 30ml (or just over 1 fluid ounce) of polish.  The regular Ozotic bottles contain 15ml.  Here is a quick shot to show the size difference with the bottles.

I love that the large bottles are just super sized regular bottles.  They have a large neck and a very long brush.  I felt a bit awkward at first using such a long brush, but I quickly got used to it, just like you adjust when using a mini bottle.  The only other thing I had to take care with was to ensure I wiped the full length of the wand, otherwise as I was painting my nails, a drip of polish would come down the wand and glob onto my nail and flood it everywhere.

Mr Big Black - OK, so this is a black polish and there isn't too much one can say about a regular black creme. The idea behind these polishes is that they are for heavy users, bloggers, polishAholics and nail professionals, basically anyone that tends to use a lot of the basic colours as base colours for glitters, multichromes, flakies or whatever.

So for me, as a blogger who certainly has gone through my fair share of bottles of black polish, there is one important thing.  I want my black polish to be opaque in one coat.  So does Mr Big fit the bill?

I'm happy to report that yes, Mr Big black is opaque in just one coat.  If I were wearing just black polish I would wear two coats, but for layering over, one coat is perfectly sufficient.  In fact I did paint one nail in the below photos with two coats, but you can't tell which finger, can you?

Mr Big High Gloss Top Coat -  I also applied the top coat to this mani.  I was certainly very happy with the high gloss shine.  These photos were taken in the sun and the reflection was almost too blinding for the photos.  After about a minute I lightly tapped on my pinky nail to see if it was dry, and it was 90% done.  So it seems to dry quite quickly too.  Although I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to give up my Seche Vite just yet, I need to give the top coat a few more goes first.

Mr Big White - just like the black polish, there isn't too much to say about a white creme, except that maybe it's a very white white.  After the success of the black polish at one coat, I was really hoping this could be a one coat white.  Sadly it's not.  At one coat it's still streaky and it definitely needs two coats.  Dry time was good though and I was able to quickly layer a neon polish over this.  This is two coats of Mr Big White topped with Mr Big High Gloss Top Coat.

Mr Big polishes are available from Picture Polish for $19AUD a bottle.

Polishes provided for review.

  1. Mr Black looks like a fantastic polish, I do love a good black and a good white. The best white I've found has been Sally Hansen so far!

    Any other tips?

  4. You're really not going to tell us which finger has two coats of the black so we can see if our guesses were correct? :)
