We don't really get into Halloween here in Australia, but when the idea of a Halloween Nail Art Challenge came up on our Aussie Nails Facebook group - and I saw that the challenge wasn't every day, but spaced out over the month of October in the lead up to Halloween, I thought this was just the right fun sort of thing to try out for my first nail art challenge.
The theme for 1 October is Horror Movies, and no prizes for guessing which movie I'm depicting here!
I was going to do the Scream mask on all my nails, but I really wanted to do drippy blood nails. I also wanted to do blood coming from the cuticle edge, rather than on the tips like it is usually seen with this sort of art. I figured it's more likely that your fingers would bleed from the cuticles rather than the free edge - unless of course you have some real weird demon shit going on!
I was really happy how my mask turned out. I just free hand painted it onto my finger with white polish. When that had dried I added the mouth, eyes and nose. Of course macro doesn't do it any favours, but at normal distance it looked great!
I used OPI Don't Pretzel my Bottons as the base colour under the blood, and the blood drips were made using Mirenesse Berry Boa, with highlights using Ulta3 Fire Truck.
Here is the line up for the rest of the challenge. Feel free to join in and add your link to the inlinks below.
Haha love it. I must find this Facebook group. Re Halloween, I've live in Ainslie and Braddon these last seven or so years and I must say I have noticed that the US Holloween customs of kids dressing up and door knocking for sweets has taken off in this area at least. Not sure whether its something the local primary school has encouraged. But they're always sorely disappointed if they come knocking here and many other homes I imagine. When I was growing up the equivalent was always Guy Faulks night - cant remember if that was 31 Oct, but there'd always be a neighbourhood Bon fire and fire crackers etc. but outlawing fire crackers put an end to all that sadly.
ReplyDeleteHey Kate, we haven't had trick or treaters for at least 10 years in our street. Maybe all the little kids grew up. But I have to say, I couldn't resist buying a pumpkin dress up outfit for mss one from Costco last week. Stay tuned for pics closer to Halloween.
DeleteOh, and here is the link to the Aussie Nails facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/AussieNails/
DeleteI am really sorry to keep asking this question but i have asked it here and on facebook a couple of times... i just want to know what hand and cuticle cream/treatments you use?
ReplyDeleteKind regards Tam ;)
Tammy so sorry I never replied. The problem is, this is a terrible question to ask me. I rarely use cuticle creams or any treatments, I just use regular body moisturizer all over my hands when I remember. I'm a terrible example to follow.
DeleteLOVE your nails :) let me ask you something, can you post the link to get the inlinkz code? couldn't find it :S
ReplyDeleteI'm just trying to work out where to put the code, cause it wont let me paste it here cause of the script tags.

ReplyDeleteI love this and I love how the blood is dripping from the cuticles because you're right, that's probably where the blood would be coming from lol =)
